Just another day in Paradise

Just another day in paradise — still at Ho-Hum resort in Carrabelle on Florida’s Unforgettable Coast.

It was a low key day — very similar to Monday and that was the plan.  I think this is the anniversary of our departure on last year’s trip. Spring is very different here this year and very different at home in so many many ways.

The day started with coffee on the pier, of course, with most of the same cast.  No dolphins but a Bald Eagle put in an appearance; It flew down the coast and almost right over my head before veering inland a few hundred yards to the east.  It was funny to watch how all the Seagulls and Cormorants and Pelicans scattered with it’s approach.  It was a big eagle and it flapped with apparent leisure about 25 feet above me; Sadly I didn’t have my camera, all I could do is watch.  The coffee was awful as the milk was sour and I didn’t realize that until the next morning but I choked it back and enjoyed the sun; Black coffee will have to do tomorrow.

I did a little more fishing to no effect both in the morning and in the afternoon.  I did watch others catch a Bonnet Shark and a Smooth Dogfish ( both fairly small not more than 3 feet in length).  Someone caught a nice spotted seatrout.

Around lunchtime I sat down to think about the blog and ended up instead writing 1300 words of my next ( and final) homework assignment until the battery died in my iPad and that was all the writing I had in me for the day.

The weather was perfect — low 70’s farenheit, not a trace of humidity and just a few high puffy clouds.  Rrainy and I went for a walk again at low-tide, this time with the dogs.  The same route on the wild beach to the west of the resort; The dogs loved it — Swiffer was like a young pup dancing and chasing; All three dogs swam, chasing after shells we picked up and threw back because they were still occupied either by the original builder or a hermit crab.

In the afternoon I ran to town to buy a few groceries and fill the truck with gas for our trip out while Lorraine tidied and did some laundry in preparation for moving on the next day.

I made Jambalaya with Shrimp and Chicken and some gristly country sausage — worked for me, Rrainy was a little less convinced.
We watched a marathon of 90’s Law and Order Re-runs and fell asleep.

Ho-hum indeed but someone’s gotta do it.
